‘Floating’ also known as sensory deprivation is used to help with energy levels, muscle recovery, stress relief, pain relief and even improves the condition of the skin. Floating is the method used to attain the deepest state of relaxation possible and feel better than ever before!
At Blissful Relaxation we pride ourselves in providing the ultimate floating experience in Louisville, Kentucky. Let us share with you some of the top benefits and important points when it comes to floating.
How Does Floating Work?
At Blissful Relaxation, we offer king sized float rooms which are 8’ long by 7’ wide allowing for the most spacious float rooms in all of Kentucky!
Our float rooms are filled with 270 gallons of water… And our key ingredient which makes all of this magic come together. A massive 1,700 lbs of epsom salt which is what makes you to float.
The water itself is kept at the average skin temperature (94 degrees F), which allows you to lose track of your body. The float rooms are sound proof and, when you turn off the light, completely dark.
No gravity, no touch, no sight, and no sound. Just pure nothing.
How Does Floating Affect The Mind?
During a float you produce slower brain-wave patterns known as theta waves.
Normally theta waves are only experienced during deep meditation, just before falling asleep, and when waking up.
This is often accompanied by vivid imagery, very clear creative thoughts, sudden insights/inspirations, or feelings of profound peace/joy.
Floating is used effectively in the treatment of anxiety/depression, pain, and fatigue as well as addictions including smoking and alcohol.
How Does Floating Affect The Body?
The zero-gravity like environment mixed with Epsom salt, helps the body release tension and begin to heal itself. The neck and shoulder muscles begin to loosen, the back muscles begin to relax and the pressure from your knees and ankle seem to disappear.
Research also shows that floating measurably reduces blood pressure and heart rate, helps with anxiety and lowers the levels of cortisol (known as the stress hormone).
How Is The Tank Cleaned?
In addition to being focused on providing a relaxing environment for our guests, we are also focused on ensuring the sanitation of all the services we offer. This is how we ensure every float is as clean as possible!
Between each float the water is filtered four times through a filter designed to clean an entire swimming pool, then treated with UV light and maintained with hydrogen peroxide between 50 and 100 ppm
